Thank you. > I quite like the lighting. Large softbox to camera left close to subject and > far from background? Yes: 28" square Apollo, above subject @ 45 degrees, about 3 feet away. The backdrop is closer than you might think; about 6 feet. It's a brand new Westcott 10'x10' cotton seamless sheet I bought. It absorbs light because it has a fuzzy flannel-like surface. > I wonder if it might have been improved with a tiny bit of low fill to > decrease the shadow under her nose? I set the light so as to emphasize her cheekbones and facial structure. It's butterfly lighting and the shadow is expected. If I added fill I would have reduced the shadow but at the expense of also subduing the chiselling of the features. Contrast is good! :-) > She’s a lovely model, but I’m sure you know that. > > It might work a tiny bit better as a square crop with a bit more space on > either side of her. Yup! Once again I cropped too close. I had zoom-framed for a more upright posture and she spontaneously slanted to this one. I took the shot and later pulled the zoom out to accommodate but never got quite this nice look again. > I’ll take a wild guess that the lens is in the 50-80mm range at about f/11? Good guess, Larry. 95mm, f/9.0. It's a DA* 50-135 on a tripod. -- -bmw -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
