My bicycle is a 1973-vintage Raleigh Super Course, in very good condition (if
you don't look too closely at the paint!), with all original parts except the
tires and pedals. Despite many thousands of miles it's still going strong.
The problem is tires.
Short version: The rims are "hookless" dimpled Weinmanns.
i don't know from hookless, but i would consider buying new wheels …
contemporary wheels are stronger and lighter these days, and may be the best
investment you can make in that nice old frame; i have an old Miyata touring
frame on which i'm putting a modern 105 BB and crankset (found at thrift), and
i'm shopping for wheels for it, plus i could also use a better wheelset for a
Pake C'mute frame i just picked up; the pickings on craigslist are pretty sweet
— at this time of year it's a buyers’ market (in Denver at least)
