Ah, but your grandchildren and their children will be eternally grateful for the
memories you've captured. I get this everytime I want to shoot my wife and girls
baking together, playing piano together, or doing each other's hair while watching TV.
Endure the criticisms now; you're leaving a priceless legacy.

I recently picked up my daughter from middle school, dropping off her friend "Janet."
Janet raced to the mailbox and opened a thin envelope that bore the news that she had
not been accepted into a special academic program. As she read the letter, I snapped a
couple photos from behind the wheel of my car. When the prints arrived, I asked my
daughter to give them to Janet.

"Why would she want them?" she asked, incredulous.

"This, too, is life," I replied. I have photos of me discovering my first gray hair,
signing my divorce, undergoing dental work and foot surgery, and crying over the loss
of a girlfriend.
