I always carry a camera, too. I, however, have discovered that photo ops
never occur in my vicinity when I have a camera.  I look at carrying a
camera as disaster prevention, as a result.

This should be on the introduction page of any book aimed at a new
photographer.

I am learning to take a camera with me at all times, I have been amazed at
the opportunities I would otherwise have missed.
