Bears are generally bad tempered, solitary and omnivorous. Brown bears
are big and aggressive, Black are small and retiring, (for a bear), the
smallest full grown black bear is about 200 lbs and they can get to be
quite a bit larger. the biggest of the Brown bears the Kodiak can weigh
up to a ton. When surprised they generally react with aggression. Their
range overlaps, though there are no Brown bears in the Eastern most
parts of North America, and no Black bears in the Northern most parts of
North America AFAICR. The White variety seems to be a sub species of
Brown bears, and is found in Northern climes. Everything that makes
Brown bears something to be avoided pertains to them as well.

Really enjoyed your GESO, Matt. Plenty to keep holiday makers &
photographers busy. Are the bears dangerous?

In June, I took a vacation with my wife and friends to Banff National
Park and the surrounding area. I've been posting images gradually
since then, and many of you have seen them on other sites and social
networks, but for those who haven't, I invite you to see the finished
collection now:

Comments, as always, are welcome.
