All, Today (April 16, 2002) Asahi Kogaku Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha was awarded patent 6,374,060 for a "Hybrid camera selectively using photographic film and image sensor."
The patent depicts a 35mm SLR with an interchangeable film or digital back. Judging by the drawings, it looks fairly mature (maybe close to an actual implementation). Wouldn't that be cool?
