I also have shot slide film for decades: There are many situations where even perfect exposure yields shadow that needs a bit of the ol' Curves Tool. That said, I think the real fuss isn't over the photographer but rather the pretentious load of bollocks written in by the columnist who thinks that a piece of unimaginative art selling for a high price implies that art form is not, in fact, an art at all.
