neither larger sensors nor more pixels necessarily equal more detail, but if/when there is more detail, there is still the question of how you would view large prints; i know i usually look at them from farther away than smaller prints, but sometimes i also go really close — i guess if i see very sharp edges no grain on a huge print, i am impressed
but i still have to step back to really see the whole image, so that detail doesn't change how the image looks, just adds a little "gee whiz" to it; i do feel the flexibility to crop is the biggest benefit of a higher resolution image
