Alan,
I am not sure how exactly you are saving the file in MS-Word, but unless you take special measures ("save as"), it saves it as a Word document which is very different from the original .xmp format (which is essentially an XML). You can experiment saving it as Text-Only. But then there are a few different version of the text-only formats - so, you might experiment with those.
Alternatively, you can consider using one of the programs better suited for editing XMP files:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_metadata_editors Darren: any metadata can be edited in any common format image files (DNG, RAW, JPG, ...) as well as XMP files, including the copyright. That part is not (and never was) intended to be protected. Cheers, Igor On Wed, Feb 18, 2015 at 8:31 AM, Alan C wrote:
In Elements 10, I can EXPORT an .xmp sidecar file & edit it with, say, MSWORD. However, I then cannot get the edited file to overwrite the original. The IMPORT function doesn't seem to work. If I Re-EXPORT the original, the edited version is overwritten & the edits are lost. Any ideas? Alan C
