Hi,

I like it to say "That's a great photo, Bob. Press the
shutter...NOW!".

Apart from that I'm becoming more of a minimalist (or should that be
'less of a minimalist'? Is that a paradox? Perhaps 'less of a
maximalist' is best).

Whatever. I've always appreciated the efficient simplicity of the
aperture display in the older Pentax lenses, and I also like to see
the shutter speed with a +/- 2 or 3 stops indicator. I like the way
this is implemented in the Leica M6.

The busiest viewfinder I've used is the Contax RX with the digital
focus indicator switched on. When I first used it I thought it was a
clever idea, but in practical terms it's useless and just gets in the
way of more important information.

Stuff that's nice to have is the frame number and metering mode, but
it's not really essential. Actually, exposure correction is vital when
it's in use, as a reminder to switch it off. The more 'functions' a
camera has the more need there is for information to be in the
viewfinder, and the more clutter you get. There must be a point of
diminishing returns.
