Quoting John <[email protected]>:

Choosing numbers closest to my current catalog & closest upload speed it
would take:

37 Days 0 Hours 36 Minutes 11.76 Seconds to upload (575Gb at 1.544 Mbps).

Actually, it would take longer than that, because I don't get 1.55Mbps
upload speed. On a good day it's 1.10Mbps.

I could probably trim a little time by only uploading Raw (DNG) and
Working (PSD) files & just planning on recreating output (JPG) files if
I ever needed to reload from an on-line backup.

I'm on Time-Warner Cable, and I ain't NEVER gonna' get anything like
100Mbps.

Gonna' have to look for something though because my current off-site
backup plan is kaput.

Yeah, mine is too. I used to keep backup copies at work but since I retired that option is off the table. I don't have a convenient alternative - the best I can do is keep the backup drive in my shed on the theory that if the house burns down, the shed wont...

Anyway, I signed up for the Amazon storage option just to work out whether it's a worthwhile alternative. On a quick test, it took 20 minutes to upload 11 jpgs (total about 113MB) - so roughly 2 minutes per file. Might be practical for storing selected files but I doubt I'd attempt a full backup.
