I also have no trouble with the f-stop reading in the MX viewfinder, and
I'll agree that the LEDs are a bit hard to see in bright light.  Would a
rubber eye-cup help this problem?

As for info, I see shutter and f-stop being a bare minimum, especially
useful, if like me, you are just starting.  I've used a borrowed canon AV-1
before and I'm not a fan of the match needle and no f-stop display.  Of
course, I'm also not a fan of aperture-priority with only a small
"backlight" but to control exposure compensation (ok, ok you could change
the film speed).  I mostly wasn't a fan of the plasticky Canon FD lens.  But
now I'm starting to wander...
