Yes, I bet that would be a sight. It would have been nice to just lie on the grass and watch the sail boats but we had to keep moving. We were there with with my wife's great uncle & aunt. They took us to a lovely little French restaurant on the head. When he took us back to the ferry terminal his local knowledge came in handy. The traffic was nightmarish but he zipped through some back streets and got us through in no time. I'd hate to think what the houses cost out there.
I'd been thinking in Melbourne that I'd sooner live there than Sydney, but then I saw the harbour again... just unbeatable. The initial plan for Christchurch was to build it at the head of Lyttelton Harbour but I think it was either the land being unsuitable for agriculture, or the fact there were two rivers on the plain, that caused the city to be built where it is.
