Hono(u)rable Pentaxians;
The subject of split image focusing screens recently came up and several
list
members mentioned the interchangeable focusing screens of the LX and MX.
This feature was important to me in buying my LX and MX. When I met Paul
Stregevsky he was surprised that the "standard" screen in my LX was the SG20
and in the MX the SD21.
My reasons for the choices:
1. I use long lenses and split screens are useless.
2. For macro work split screens are useless
3. The grid on the LX screen REALLY helps me with composition (my greatest
challange). Not only that, since using it, I've had fewer tilted horizons!
So, which screen is your favo(u)rite/most used?
Christian
Christian,
For the longest time I used the standard SC-21. Did not know any better.
Two of my LXen still have them installed. After getting my ZX-5 and then my
MZ-S I found that I could focus without the aid of a split-image center.
My two most used LXen - yes including the 'beat to hell' one - sport the
SE-20. I have been tempted to find other screens to check out, I just have
not had the motivation to search. Interesting, I used a SC-21 equipped LX
two weekends ago. It was so strange to see the split-image center. I found
myself relying on it rather than shooting normally. It looks like it is
time to get better at swapping screens or get a couple more SC-21s.
