TODAY, I got an email offer from Time-Warner Cable to swap out my modem so I can get up to 300Mbps cable internet speed at no additional charge over what I'm already paying.
I'm not so sure about the offer, but I went ahead & requested the new modem, even though when I tried to log into my account, they tell me they can't find me by my email address, by the phone number I used to sign up with TWC Road-runner or by my TWC Road-runner cable internet phone number. Later today, they sent me an email confirmation that my request has been received & an easy connect kit is on the way. Another email is supposed to give me a tracking number once the modem actually ships. Last month Google announced they are installing Google Fiber in my city and that once it reaches my neighborhood, I should be able to get up to 1000Mbps for the same cost as I'm now paying Time-Warner Cable. I couldn't find anything about whether Google Fiber will have internet phone service available or whether my existing TWC phone number will be portable, but apparently Time-Warner is running scared already. -- Science - Questions we may never find answers for.
