It is legitimately from Time-Warner cable. The reason I'm not confident
about the offer is because Time-Warner Cable are blithering idiots in
addition to being lying ASSHOLES.

For years Time-Warner has been holding Raleigh subscribers hostage -
they couldn't upgrade the cable internet service without a *BIG* rate
increase!!!

Yet, a month after Google announces they're bringing 1000Mbps Fiber to
Raleigh, Time-Warner can suddenly afford to upgrade everybody's speed at
no additional cost to the customer by just swapping out the modems?

????

These are the morons whose email server was down for several months; the
reason I now have an Earthlink account strictly for email. When I called
their support number about the outage, they told me I didn't pay for
email, it was just something extra they GAVE me out of the goodness of
their hearts, so it was of no consequence that I couldn't access my
Time-Warner email account.

... and by coincidence, just minutes after I posted, they took the
entire system down.

I couldn't connect to the internet, couldn't send or receive email and
my internet telephone was dead. I'm not sure how long it was down, it
was back when I got home from my weekly photography brunch just after
noon. I called the support number on my cell phone & got their automated
system which told me they were "conducting maintenance" & offered to
call me as soon as it came back on-line.

I've yet to receive that call.

The "can't log into my account because they can't find me by my email
address or telephone numbers" is due to a completely different
INCOMPETENCE on the part of Time-Warner. They don't know how to
communicate by plain text email & the links they include so you can view
the content in a web browser are defective.

I could probably get them to work if I disabled NoScript & told
Thunderbird to display the message body as "Original HTML", but why
should I?
