Well, I got it for the equivalent of US$75 on a local web auction. I left it until 2min before closing time & was the only bidder. Not too much interest in old Pentax stuff in SA. The seller was aware of the "indicative market value" which was listed as R5000 (US$375). It was described as "like new, in original packaging" so it may well never have been used. Unfortunately I had no opportunity to examine or test it so will have to wait until next week when my new toy arrives.

Look at it VERY CLOSELY for micro-bubbles indicating compound lens
separation. Had one that looked fine looking straight through it, but
on closer examination and tilting at JUST the right angle I could see
them. Explained why the images from it looked like CRAP.
If you get a chance to test it, us a long-ish lens 300mm, if possible.

Is the seller an idiot/clueless? If so, it may be a good deal. If not,
things that sound too good to be true may actually be too good to be
true.

I can possibly get a Pentax 1.7x AF adapter for R1000 ($70). Is it worth
while? The reviews I have read give very differing opinions. Apart from the
AF, how good are the optics?
