It turns out that loganberries were developed here in Santa Cruz. To
make the story even more interesting, James Logan was involved in
building the Brookdale Lodge, which is an incredibly eclectic and
interesting hotel a few miles up the road from my house. The dining
room has a creek that runs through it, and one wall of one of the bars
is a glass window into the deep end of a swimming pool.
The varietal name in that family, very common up in the Northwet that
always amuses me is marionberry, no relation to the mayor.
