I have to agree, shooting only still images, I carry a 16GB and two 8GB class 10 cards and I can't remember ever filling up all three in a normal day's shooting. True it's a 16mp camera, but I shoot raw but even machine gunning at a sword demonstration half the time I didn't fill an entire card.

Maybe if I were using a 24mp camera and shooting a wedding I'd need to have three 16GB cards, but even then I don't think so.

The only reason I can see for carrying that much storage would be if I were going to be somewhere where electricity was at a premium and I was spending a couple of weeks in the field, making copying images to a couple of backup hard drives difficult. At that point extra batteries would be more important.
