Christine, I'd been hemming and hawing since 2012 regarding the repair. Couldn't decide if I was going to live with it as a screw-driven or manual lens. Well, it answered that question when it simply refused to focus via any method.
I finally started the process January 31, but couldn't find a box the right size (and kept forgetting to take the lens to a shipper). Maybe the age of the paperwork sped up the repair. Who knows?
