That depends on the telescope. My Celestrons have a prime focus camera
adapter to which you attach a standard t-mount, similar to this one:

If you are doing eyepiece projection photography of the moon or planets
then you need this:

Other makes of telescopes will have similar accessories. Maybe your
friend already has the adapters, and all you need to supply is the
t-mount.
That would be my guess. Do you have a recommendation for a T-mount? All
I know is that I don't know what I need, or how to get a decent one
without spending lots of money.
