Hi Gonz - I do like the concept of a one size fits all lens, often using my 28-105 for that; the issue is it's not really long enough or wide enough for travel photography, if that's all you take with you. I find the two lens combination, covering 16-200 with only a small gap at 45-50 just about covers everything. I've occasionally wished for wider than 16 and longer than 200, but reasonably rarely. I think my next purchase (acquisitions committee allowing) might be the 12-24, and then I might drop the 50-200 for the 70-210. Really, unless you carry a full range of lens, you can't ever expect to cover every situation in the best possible way. I used to carry 28,35,50, and 135mm lens for film, before I got any zoom lens, and the constant switching could be enough to drive me nuts! John in St. Louis
