Thanks for the thoughts, everyone.  GNS revised their reading to 7.5 so it was 
a pretty big one.  I went back to bed around 3am and haven't noticed anything 
since.  It's nice when it's far enough away that you don't get aftershocks 
waking you up every few minutes.

Looks like there's a bit of destruction around the Kaikoura region.  Might be a 
while before the roads reopen up there as there are a couple of broken bridges 
and impressive landslides.

Tsunami-wise we may have dodged a bullet as the area off the Kaikoura coast is 
known to be prone to underwater landslides.  A small one was generated and 
looking at a tide gauge it appears that the sea bed may have been lifted by 
about 700mm (27.5") by the quake.
