Regarding the Sydney sights you can buy a multi-pass which will get you a very good discount for multiple attractions. You can buy the pass at any one of the attractions. You have to visit that one first, then go through the others at your leisure. So pick which one you want to do first and buy the pass through their website.

Igor mentioned the Queen Victoria Building, I'd definitely second that. You can get tours in the Opera House. And he's right about the bridge-climb tours. Horribly expensive and you're not allowed to carry anything in case it drops. Walk the path across and the views will be almost as good, for free.
