I think I replied to my post rather than yours so you might look for that. Unless I replied to an entirely unrelated post in which case a bunch of people will be scratching their heads saying; "What?"

Thanks for the suggestion.

My current motherboard only has internal headers for USB 2.0. I'd need
to find a USB 3.0 add-in card that has internal USB 3.0 headers to use
any of these. So far, I haven't found a card with the necessary internal
USB 3.0 headers.

It turned out I must have damaged the USB Mini-B plug on the cable where
it connects to the powered hub. I swapped in a spare cable, and the hub
is working again.

Thanks for the offer Larry, but neither of them solves the problem of
getting the USB ports around to the front where I want them.

I bought the hub because this computer has a limited number of USB

Not sure how I'm going to replace it. A quick online search of NewEgg,
Tiger Direct & Staples doesn't seem to turn up anything similar.

I picked up a PCI USB3 card for my photo processing box

My first attempt was one of these:

But I couldn't get it to work with the old mac pro, if you're
interested, make me an offer. One thing to watch for is whether each
USB3 is a separate channel, or they all share a channel.

USB 3 hubs are now pretty cheap at places like Fry's

I guess I'll worry about it later.
