You can look on Amazon for pretty much any PCI-e 1, USB 3.0 adapter with
two external and one internal connectors. I've come the the unfortunate
conclusion that the only major difference between the really cheap
devices and the expensive devices is quality checking. The cheap one's
will pass visual inspections that the expensive one's will fail. Actual
quality is pretty much hit or miss beyond that. Sadly you no longer get
what you pay for.
The other thing to watch out for is whether all of the ports are on the
same channel, or each port gets its own channel. With my "extra" card,
I'm pretty sure each has it's own channel, but you would then need to
run a cable around up front.
If you only read/write to one USB 3 drive at a time, then sharing a
channel isn't such an issue.

Thanks for the offer Larry, but neither of them solves the problem of
getting the USB ports around to the front where I want them.

Not sure how I'm going to replace it. A quick online search of NewEgg,
Tiger Direct & Staples doesn't seem to turn up anything similar.
I picked up a PCI USB3 card for my photo processing box

My first attempt was one of these:

But I couldn't get it to work with the old mac pro, if you're
interested, make me an offer. One thing to watch for is whether each
USB3 is a separate channel, or they all share a channel.
USB 3 hubs are now pretty cheap at places like Fry's
I guess I'll worry about it later.
