Interesting. I found all the images rather low-key but then again you are shooting downwards ;-) Love the fact you've shot B and W. Did you shoot jpeg mono in cam or convert later? >I took Cotty's advice -- while ignoring Bob W's :) I can remember spouting the delights of the X20 but can't remember Bob's advice. Was it to avoid the X20 or look at something else? >and got my wife >to gift me a (barely used) Fuji X20 at Christmas. It's a pretty nice >little camera and has convinced me to actually take it on walks with >me as I had hoped it would. Excellent! I keep mine with me all the time, and I know Bob takes his with him on many a trip. It's so small that it seems a shame *not* to take it everywhere. >Sadly, Bob was right and the UI is >somewhat troublesome. But I'm slowly getting the hang of it, and it >doesn't do a bad job in good light. I have mine set up so that I can more or less manage everything I need to using just to clicks on the top main dial: shuttling between C1 and C2. C1 is set to mono (Auto 3200, large fine 3:2, Dynamic Range Auto, B&W, highlight tone +1, shadow tone +2, noise reduction -2 and that's about it - for gritty mono snapcam). And C2 is set to colour large fine 3:2, ISO 800, Dynamic Range DR200, all other values zero. There's always the 'Q' button to quickly and easily change any value if I need to, staying away from buried menus. One thing of great use is : press and hold the 'DISP/BACK' button to turn to 'silent' mode, disabling sounds, AF assist lamp, flash etc. Press and hold to revert. The last thing I need for stealth pics is AF assist lamps! > >Using it indoors is another thing. Shooting the antics of my cats is >proving to be a royal pain in the ass. Hmm, I don't find a problem inside in low light. If the cats are black, I could see why ;-) > >Anyway, the link above is for a little photo essay I decided to post >on Medium, just to switch things up and try that out. My only nits with the camera are battery life (always carry at least one spare batt!) and the MF if useless, I never use it. But I didn't get it to use MF, it's a pocketable grab-cam with good control on it and an optical VF. Built like a tank and with a versatile zoom lens. Got an X10 as well. Have fun :-) -- Cheers, Cotty ___/\__ Broadcast, Corporate, || (O) | Web Video Production ---------- <www.seeingeye.tv> _____________________________ -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
