Alright, - I've found a nice comparison of different video editors -
software for different platforms, both free and commercial.
I thought, it might be useful for somebody else on the list, so, I am
sharing it back, sort of answering my own question.

much of specialized software that is an overkill for me (function- and

those suggestions too.
