Thank you, Adam,

I am currently testing a few free editors that were in the link I've posted and in the review posted by Henk (VSDC video editor, Kdelive, shotcut, belnder). IIRC, Lightworks was among the contenders, but I something was missing in its description. 720p-limitation would be a negative factor too.

Cheers,

Igor

For the past four years I've been using a program called Lightworks. (
https://www.lwks.com/) .I rather like it, you can use it on Windows, OSX,
and Linux. The free version is limited to a 720p export.

Not free but inexpensive, pretty intuitive to use and powerful:
Vegas Movie Studio (currently on version 14).
You can get it in plain vanilla, Platinum, or Suite editions. I recommend Platinum.

You won't likely outgrow it and there are a ton of good how-to and tutorial videos for free on YouTube.

Thank you, Darren!

It looks interesting. From the description and the screenshots, it actually looks very similar to the free packages I am trying. If those will not work, I'll consider this one.

Jostein:
Thanks again for the pointer to Wings Platinum (apparently I haven't seen it mentioned almost anywhere..) While it does some editing, - it is more focused on the feed to the monitors (probably live feed). So, editing functions are somewhat limited compared to the packages I mentioned at the top of this message.
(I am just sharing back, in case you'd need to edit video again.)

Once again, thanks to all who responded!

Igor
