In the Pentax system, the lens doesn't report a readable name to the
camera, but reports a couple of unique numbers that are recorded in the
EXIF. Your software then has to be updated to map those numbers to the
user-readable name of the lens. According to this page:
https://helpx.adobe.com/camera-raw/kb/supported-lenses.html#Pentax
support for the 28-105 was added in Camera Raw 9.6. Do you have at least
that version?

Actually, I'll answer my own question... I used Jeffrey's EXIF viewer:
http://exif.regex.info/exif.cgi
on your (lovely) recent photo:
http://www.markcassino.com/b2evolution/media/blogs/calarti/2017/17-07-09/mccp8125_tu2.jpg?mtime=1499635572
and the EXIF dump says you're using Camera Raw 9.1.1, so that's why it
can't decode the lens code.

If you look at Jeffrey's EXIF dump, near the top, you'll see "Lens: 8 61".
Those are the two numbers that identify the lens. So Jeffrey's library
(exiftool or something?) doesn't properly decode it either, but the field
is being populated by the lens and camera--it doesn't look like a
malfunction to me.
