Hi Fred, No not substantial but faster is faster. > 3. I'd find 125mm to be usually getting a little long for portrait > use under most indoor conditions. I like shooting informal portraits using 135mm at parties and such, it's less confronting, the subjects often get a pleasant surprise when they are presented with the prints or sent pic via email. We get to party outside a lot in Oz :-) > 4. The "finer focus capability" is interesting Rob. The A 100/2.8 > Macro is no slouch in this department, so its focusing must indeed > be special. The focus ring is mechanically finer as it rotates through two revolutions like the Contax CZ macros. Hi Raimo, This wouldn't surprise me only because mine was soft at infinity, so I stripped it apart and adjusted the focus stop so that like my Pentax lenses it focussed past infinity, it seems pretty sharp now. I actually took a few digital snaps whilst it was in bits if anyone is interested. Hi Alan, I haven't used it in taxing situations as yet so I can't comment on this aspect of its performance I can however indicate that it seem to be well treated to eliminate internal reflection etc and the hood is pretty tight too. The rear element appears to be completely fixed whilst focussing. The focus scale also indicates magnification, since the focus ring rotates through two revolutions the red demarcation on the extended barrel indicates which set of engravings should be referred to. I haven't calculated the theoretical FL vs mag vs focus distance as yet.
