are Auto, Low, Medium, High, Custom, and Off. When Off is selected, Noise
Reduction is not applied at any ISO setting. When e.g. Low is selected, a Low
degree of Noise Reduction is applied at all ISO
levels. Under Custom, the user can step through all available ISO levels and
select the desired level of noise reduction for each level. The screen shot for
this step is too small, I can't be sure what the
options are, but I believe they are Low, Medium, and High. Off option may be
missing.

As far as I understood the various threads about this (DPReview and
Pentax-forums),
the consensus is that this is the familiar noise-reduction IN SOFTWARE ONLY,
that always has been there is some form or another.

The (additional ?) noise reduction that now seems to be present is done by the
accelerator-unit,
which is a HARDWARE processor that sits in between the sensor and the existing
processing in
the PRIME engine (after the AD-converter I gues, so in the digital domain
already)
It being a hardware solution, and in the direct image-processing path,
it may be hard to supply an easy ON/OFF mechanism.

But I guess no one outside Pentax really knows for sure at the moment ...

Perhaps, but I doubt it.

Perhaps, we will see it in the coming months I hope.

second body.

That sounds like a good plan. Even if you only convert one of them,
that WILL have the improvements in AF for when you need it :)

Unfortunately I only have one, so can't take that route.
