I recently came into the possession of a macbook pro that is a lot newer than mine, the downside is it only has a 1TB drive, and no ethernet port, but it does have USB 3 and two thunderbolt ports. It had OSX Mojave installed on it, which it turns out won’t run LR 6.
I’m in the process of installing High Sierra, so that I can run LR 6. I was happy to upgrade lightroom every couple of years. However, when they went to ransomware, I declined. My income is uncertain these days and I don’t want to be committed to paying an annual ransom to not be locked out of working on my photos. I just haven’t had time to try out alternatives to lightroom and make the switch. LR 6 had a couple of new features that I considered pretty cool, HDR and panoramas. The face recognition is kind of nifty, but not as nifty as character recognition would be. They also work pretty well, but have enough shortcomings that I’m not entirely happy with them. Are there any absolutely must have features of the current lightroom that would make it worth $120 per year? Mind you I have practically no interest in photo shop, certainly not enough to pay any extra for it. Side question. I’ve got what I want on an external drive and I’d love to just copy that over, but if I boot off the external drive, migration assistant won’t seem to just transfer everything to the recently formatted internal drive, so I’m doing the long slow installation of High Sierra, which is going to take 2 hours, before I can even start the copy of data off the external drive. Is there a quicker way to do this that I’m missing? -- Larry Colen [email protected] -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
