It does have a modular jack.. but I have black one somewhere that
doesn't (I think i still have it) but it doesn't work.
At some point I'll photo the bottom for you - with the numbers on it etc...

It *might* be Bakelite, but it looks like it was late enough to have a
modular plug for the handset, which suggests it's probably a later
plastic.
A really neat phone to look out for is the transitional piece where
the rotary dial was replaced with a "dial" that had buttons in a
circle around the front. The numbers were in the same position as the
finger holes in the rotary dial.
I see a lot of reproductions, but the real ones are kind of scarce.
(The reproductions all have buttons for '*' and '#' which the real
ones didn't have.)
Then they went to a 3x3 with the '0' centered below the '8', before
settling on the current 3x4 arrangement with * 0 # on the bottom row.

Jan - Enjoyed the tour of NYC, thanks for posting.
Are you sure of Staten Island being in the background of one of
those
Statue of Liberty shots? I grew up in Bayonne, N.J. Which is west

of the Statue, while Staten Island is more southerly.

Hi all,
During my rather busy and long (4200 miles) roadtrip down, then
up the
east coast,
a couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure to meet a few well known
list members.
On the way down from Washington to Orlando, I met John Sessoms
at his
favourite
water hole in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he lives, and we
chatted
several hours.
It was a nice interlude in my journey south, John, and very good
coffee too!
Later on the way back north, I had the chance to go to NYC
(from Long
Island) and visit
Ann Sanfedele in her east village appartment, where Daniel J.
Matyola
joined us for
a short walk to one of Annsan's favourite restourants, where we
enjoyed a good lunch.
Annsan and Dan, it was real nice chatting with both of you,
admiring
the museum like walls
with photography and other art in 'Chez Ashley' and walking the
streets of Manhattan.
I threw together a small gallery with some pictures related to
both
mini-PDML meets at:

Enjoy!
For the really interested, the full roadtrip gallery (450
images) is

As a side note, I hope to be at the next GFM weekend next year,
and
see some more PDML members!
Regards, JvW
