Apparently bottled water has disappeared from many stores. I don't understand
this at all. Just turn on the tap!

Water is one of the few things it sort of makes sense to stock up on in the
event of the Zombie Apocalypse that people seem to be preparing for.
Having said that, if one is going to stock up on water, it makes far more sense
to get 5 gallon water jugs and fill them from the tap than to buy dozens of 1
liter bottles.

I buy distilled water in gallon jugs to use for ironing.
Once they're empty I refill the jugs from the tap & store them in case we get a
"boil water" advisory after a hurricane or something like that. I've got enough
stored to last a few days.
I also keep a package of water (24 sports bottles) in the car for the dog & me
when we're out and about. I got a new package a couple of weeks ago - stocking
up before I knew I was going to need to - so I won't need to replenish that for
several months.
