Stirring stuff, Cotty. I think many will share your sentiments.

We are still pretty well locked down here although they have made a few concessions to get the economy going again. We can exercise on the road in the early morning & many shops, businesses & mines are now open with strict conditions but still no travel allowed. No booze, cigarettes or restaurants but take-aways available. The infection rate is slowly creeping up especially, as you say, in the more densely populated areas where they are struggling to control the masses. Hotspots have been identified. The whole northern & eastern Platteland so far has had minimal infections. They are expecting the peak in June or July but the medical services are now well prepared. 200 odd Cuban Doctors have been recruited to assist. They completed their quarantine today.

Being imprisoned in one's own home by a virus is getting very, very old.
We have just had some of our lockdown eased, so we are now able to drive
greater distances and take unlimited exercise in most forms. For me, that means
the water is open again and I can head down to the marina where my boat awaits
the joys of refitting. Lot of work to to.

As far as the virus is concerned, I think the greatest chances of catching it
are in large population centres and indoor places like food stores etc.
Fortunately in our region of west Oxfordshire there have only been in the order
of 250 to 300 deaths total - although they likely would have passed away at the
Oxford hospitals 20 miles away, as we have nothing like that around here.
Swindon in Wiltshire is the other closest conurbation with hospitals.

Either way, practical precautions are needed and transmission is most likely
through infected surfaces, so common sense essential. There's a lot of
polarisation of views - some think it's far too early to ease the lockdown,
others think that common sense and some responsible attitude and precautions
are all that are needed. I'm in the latter group, but then, I have no direct
impact from anyone passing through the virus. Doubtless if I did, I may well
think differently. Impossible to know so I won't hypothesize. I'm 60 and have
no fear of going out into the world. I would not change my view if I were 70 or
even older. Like my mum said all those years ago: 'you just can't sit still,
can you!!'

Meanwhile, keep the faith and hold fast!
