Pentax have a history of messing around with noise reduction. When the
K-7 first came on the market, its noise reduction per 'darkframe
subtraction' was always on when the camera was set to B. A lot of people
complained and there was an update making this feature switchable. Yet,
not quite. While the display clearly said it was off, it was actually
still on at times over 30 secs. Astrophotographers and people shooting
things like fireworks or thunderstorms had to hold on to their K10D.

So, some people may be a little sceptical. With Pentax off doesn't
always mean off, even if they say so.
