For DOF preview, push the self-timer lever toward the lens.
To use the self timer, cock the shutter, pull the lever around to the bottom, and the
press the button that was revealed when moving the lever. This will show you if the
self timer works.
Personally, I find the MX too small for my (medium-sized male) hands. The Winder MX is
a useful addition to look for, just to improve the feel.
