Hi Shel, welcome back! I was almost ready to send you a get well
present.
Still might.....

Anyway. I like what you have in mind, but how to ventilate it
will be the challenge.

What I would do is to put the drawers on the bottom of the
cabinet, thereby putting the pretty stuff in better view.
I would make the drawer bottoms out of pegboaard, which will
allow air to flow past into the main compartment.
Put a furnace filter on the bottom with a computer fan pushing
air into the cabinet and your ventilation problems are fixed
also.
Depending on how humid Northern California is, you could even
use a dehumidifier as the source of air, ducting it into the
cabinet, thereby supplying the cabinet with clean and dry air.
