The construction of a cabinet and choice of matertials would largely depend on where you live, the temperature and humidity. Where I presently live, it is humid and, at times, very humid and warm. To prevent mold and fungus from attacking the lenses and corrorsion attacking the bodies, I would require a de-humidifier, glass panels and a well lite area for storage. Because wood could transmit moisture, a wood enclosure would not be my first choice. I presently some of my lenses in zip lock bags with dessicant and systems in large air tight plastic food containers with dessicant. If I were to return to Steamboat Springs Colorado, I could design a cabinet with any materials and any design. To keep the equipment dry I would use filter panels as the normal humidity is less than 20% and the elevation 6800 ft. Regards, Bob - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
