Just a general comment about older third party lenses (specifically wide-angles made by Soligor who was the maker of the common 21mm 3.8 - same as this 20/3.8?). I once read a test about a Soligor 35/2.8 (in "Camera 35") where the superlative results were said to be normally associated with german lenses. I bough such a lens and found its resolution and contrast to be excellent (on a clear day) but also that it vignetted a lot (and it's only a 35/2.8!). Old tests were only talking about muscles: resolution of the left arm, resolution of the right arm (what is this guy talking about...) but rarely were vignetting and other optical aberrations mentionned. You would then find, for example, an add where the resolution of a Spiratone lens was said to be as good as that of equivalent lennses from leading brands and the lens sold for pennies. Good resolution of high contrast subjects is probably easy to obtain for any lens maker and for litle money.
Low contrast subjects are common in real life and can probably better distinguish the good lenses from the bad ones. Am I right? Andre >Thanks Bernd, >too much vigneting for my taste.
