There is too much emphasis on sharpness in photography. A lot of people who consider themselves photographers simply because they have stopped the lens down far enough to get everything in focus are misguided. Sharpness comes in a distant third behind light and composition.
Are photos taken with fast (1600 and up) less valid because they appear less sharp than those taken with Velvia? Nope.
