>The people at Pentax are odd, like making a new flagship camera and >lowering the shutter speed (ya ya, I know it's rarely used) but still.
If you look back the history of Pentax, perhaps it would make more sense. There have been many series since the K-mount (I don't know much about SM) - K, M, LX, A, P, SF, Z/PZ & MZ/ZX. Each series are independent from each other. Unlike Nikon, Pentax do not upgrade from their previous products to produce more advance products (like from Nikon F501-801-90-100 etc). They always started from a new series which are completely different from the previous one. The MZ/ZX series was designed to replace the P/PZ series, but didn't mean to replace any specific products. They simply dump the previous series in favor of the new one. With this in mind, MZ-S was not mean to replace any specific products in the P/PZ series, but a high end model in its own series (MZ/ZX series in this case). And the same applied to the P series which was clearly inferior to the A series. Somehow the P/PZ series didn't do well and Pentax did make a major come back with the MZ/ZX series. People just like the traditional manual focus bodies design with AF, and the MZ/ZX-5 did just that. So it proved that feature packed cameras didn't always sell well. It's more important to know what the general public actually wanted. >And ya, people do notice you with Pentax equipment and remark that it looks >great, that they didn't know Pentax had/have/did that sort of thing. So I >take some pride in my equipment. Ironically, even most people criticized Pentax being an amateur brand, they don't really know much about Pentax products. regards, Alan Chan _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com
