No Idea but lets remember hat the Mr.52 was designed as a $7000 camera. This project
(and the MZ-S) delayed cameras in development (including the "flagship") to much
internal dismay. All information received the last couple of years indicate that the
MR-52/KB-266 wasn't really figured in Pentax long term plans.
The price issue is one thing. However, making a new chassis that take into
consideration the slr realities makes sense. Currently, digital slr's don't sell much.
However, in the future they will sell more at the expense of film slr's. Having a
production line that makes both from much of the same parts bin makes sense as it can
be flexible enough to respond to the changing market. In this way, releasing a film
slr in shrinking market can be compensated by the same slr selling in digital form in
an expanding market.
