Dan,

Maybe next time I am out there I can bring my Russian-English dictionary and
translate the manual for you. Bill Owens lost an opportunity at Grandfather
Mountain, though my Russian is extremely rusty. It has been quite a while
since I last took a class.

-- My new Jupiter-9 finally made it here today. Very cool, very
-- retro. Big
-- chunks of glass held together with what could pass as
-- repurposed auto
-- parts. :-) Nicer than what I expected.
--
-- The manual, naturally, is in Russian. I see that I can turn
-- the outer
-- ring and that apparently adjusts to limit how far the
-- aperture can be
-- stopped down. The ring behind that controls the aperture
-- itself. Last
-- is the focus ring.
--
-- What is the standard approach to these old style lenses? Focus, stop
-- down, and shoot? Anything I should be aware of? I'll be
-- using it on my
-- ZX-5n once the adapter from B&H gets here.
--
-- If I decide I like it enough to want to dedicate a body to it, what
-- variety of Spotmatic should I be looking for?
