Peter,

I have both.  The shorter coiled cord works for about the distance to
get the flash on a flip bracket.  Not much further.  I use the longer
cords more often.  I also find the coiling annoying and the cord in
use is shorter than the actual length.  I much prefer using the
straight longer cord.
