Peter, Bruce is exactly right. I also have both, and the short cord is only useful when using a flash bracket, but I'm glad to have it. The long cord gets more use, but I'm glad to have both.
The ends are sold separately, and I only have one pair, which means taking a minute to swap ends when swapping cords but that's no big deal. If you get the FG (I think) camera foot, you can use the built-in flash at the same time as the off-camera flash, which gives a nice amount of fill-flash. Pat White
