It was probably a ZX-M and the Nikon was probably a N65 (maybe a N80). I found it interesting to note later when I revisited the store -- when I was more conversant with cameras -- that they had no used K-1000s to sell, only used Nikons. Well, there's probably an explanation for that too. They can't make enough on K-1000's, since one can buy them on ebay. But mainly what I found interesting is that Pentax STILL has that reputation -- a good camera for photography students to learn on. At least at that one camera store. Which makes me think that the Pentax reputation overall is not quite as degraded (ignored, whatever, etc.) as some might think. Doe aka Marnie
