This is just speculation but the fact that the MZ-S chasis is expensive may have 
something to do with it. When the MZ-S was developed digital was small volume and 
expensive. From now on we can expect digital to be cheaper and higher in volume. In 
addition Pntax may need a platform for 35mm film slr as well; this segment is expected 
to decrease in volume. Hence, a platform that take recent market trends into 
consideration might be needed. To me, chassis design is probably more about production 
logistics than common sense.
