Just about...

I'm still a little confused. Who are PLUG?

PLUG is the Portland Unix/Linux Users Group. They are older than PDXLug.
It is my understanding that PDXLug was created because PLUG was not servicing the needs of the people who started PLUG.

PLUG is bigger in terms of people but also suffers a great deal from
white noise on their lists.

Are there interminglers?

Yes.

Are PLUGgers human?

Only the ones that intermingle ;) Actually I know a couple and they are good people.

Do they wear hooded robes and meet under bridges
by candlelight to commit script-kiddie style discussion?

Unfortunately yes. They had to recently change the robes though because
they were threatening to be sued by Nickolodian because they were Spongebob yellow.

Sincerely,

Joshua D. Drake

Just to show I am not always funny, and for the benefit of newcomers,
the issue was *never* about having two LUGs in the same town. There
were more than two well before PDXLUG appeared. It has *always* been
about PDXLUG's use of the words "Portland Linux User Group" which were
already in use by PLUG. And while I've never characterized the
confusion as "great", it does seem persistent. I try to take note of
it when I find it. Some others try to ignore or actively misrepresent
it.

http://www.pdxlinux.org does not have the phrase "Portland Linux User
Group" anywhere, only "Portland Linux/Unix Group" or PLUG.

The name was changed, you can't also call it "Portland Linux User Group"
too. Pick one or the other.

It's not like anyone in PDXLUG tries to intentionally confuse or mislead
newcomers that we are PLUG. That has never happened and I doubt ever
will. I would venture to say that most PDXLUGers would rather not be
associated at all, anyway.

Matt,

Thanks for updating the <title> tag on the site. I know how much harm that
caused PLUG. They say that their meetings are missing 20 people[1].
Hopefully those people will find their way to one of our meetings now...
and stop wandering the streets in search of the ONE TRUE LUG of PDX!

Okay, can we end this thread yet?
